I'm doing a project on geese in school and I need to know stuff about owning Canadas.

Are you legally allowed to own Canadas in Ohio?

In language arts i'm doing an essay on geese and one of my paragraphs is about owning geese, specifically Canadas. I live in Ohio and when I search if its legal to own Canada geese in Ohio I don't get the answers I need. Is anyone able to tell me if its legal to own Canada geese in Ohio and if so what basic care information do you have because I really need it. Also, I have seen another post that says you can buy, trade, or barter from someone if they have a USFW permit with paperwork on hand. Is this true? Also how do you take care of Canadas if you do own them. Thank you.

As migratory waterfowl, the regulations are covered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service and states' regs comply with those. The USFW regs are tied to treaties with Canada and Mexico.
In general, it is illegal to possess them.

I've never owned any but I have hatched some for a friend who has a federal license to take down nests on private property. Rather than kill the eggs that were about to hatch, we put them in my incubator and gave the goslings to a geese peace rescue organization.
They sure made a mess of the incubator. They shed so much down that it clogged all the fans.
