I planted a couple of navel orange seeds last fall. Only one sprouted and it's about 4 inches tall. It's been outside during the California winter.

Mango seed

Open and remove the seed.

Wrap in paper towel

Wet paper towel

Place in plastic bag and set in a warm place such as on top of the refrigerator.

After one to two weeks, open and check for growth.

Plant and wait for growth.

There's new navel orange seeds just laying on top of the soil in the pot at the moment. I'm planning to direct plant them in the yard.

Can't do that here. Too cold. Currently the ground is frozen and snow covered.

I love baby trees! I would love to grow more here, but I don't know much about trees. Do you know anything that might thrive in CA, zone 9? Maybe a few fruit trees, we had a lemon tree once.
