I'm incubating for the first time!

We are going on lockdown Tuesday with our eggs from our BO rooster who was killed by a fox and our BO hen and a EE hen. We have 12 eggs left, 4 of which we couldn't see during candling bc the green is too dark and shells too thick. Our girls shells are very thick--much more than the different ones I tried to hatch last time, I could see those easily. We tried all sorts of flashlights, but couldn't see for sure.

I hope we've had everything right, the last (and first) time I tried to incubate eggs we had a huge temperature spike and then my cat knocked over the whole group of eggs on day 15 or so. This time we kept them out in an office with steady air flow in the room to avoid temperature fluxuations. We are hoping to get a rooster and a couple girls out of the hatch to keep and give away the rest if they make it.

*excited* Good luck everyone!

I'm at day 13 of incubation. I, too, have had temp fluctuation on Friday. Our weather here can't make up it's mind so the house temp isn't stable and I don't want to turn the heater back on. It has been fine yesterday and so far today. Lot's of luck with your lockdown and hatching. Please let us know how it goes.

YIPPPPEEEEE! I'M A FEATHER-MOM TODAY!!!!!! I have three splash silkie chicks walking around and cheeping in the incubator! They are just adorable! I have two more eggs that haven't pipped. I guess they didn't get the memo that Sunday was 'hatch day'. Maybe they're just late......like their mom.

I have 8 buff silkie eggs that are due to hatch on the 5th! Hope they ALL hatch!

This is WAAAAAAYYY COOOOOL !!!!!!!

Congrats!!
I keep walking by, pausing to listen to a possible cheep, eyeing them to see if they move...
I have NO more fingernails - chewed them off with all the waiting! Does it get ANY easier??? LOL!

2 Pips & 1 Zipping this morning!!!
OMG!!
My kids are BEYOND the moon today!!

I hope they all hatch, but will be happy no matter!

How long after the initial pip thru, 'til the zipping starts???
My zipped one has almost tossed the top of the shell off and the pipped one just sits there... is it exhausted?? Or dead?
