Im
I totally understand that! Back in the day, my husband and I had to go to his family's house, my dads house, and my moms/Mamaw's house all in one day. I always made a dish for each place and dropped them off then made the lunch, late lunch and dinner rounds. One year I went to my Mamaw's house (that is where lunch was when my Mamaw was alive) first. We ate (who isn't going to eat their Mamaw's cooking??) stayed a little too long I guess because when we got to my dads house the the step monster was pissed! When I only put a spoonful of each dish on my plate she got upset and started raving about how I liked my Mamaw's and moms cooking better (DUH?) and that I was being rude. So, I said, no this is being rude, this will be our last Thanksgiving here...we try to accommodate everyone in one day and all you can do is complain about it...so we won't be back....and then we left.
Over the years both my parents and my beloved Mamaw have passed away as well as my husbands father. So, for Thanksgiving, we stay home in our PJ's and I make some outrageous dinner (Prime Rib or Rack of Lamb etc and make a cheesecake or Tiramisu or chocolate cake etc.). We drink wine, have snacks and have a movie marathon and just enjoy relaxing. The next day I take leftovers to his mom and sister. Life is way to short to spend it with people who don't like you or you don't like (yes...even if they are family)...I'm not someone who can pretend to like people when I don't...mercy the holiday stories I could tell! LOL!
I think my hubby and I might just make a similar new tradition.
We just hit 1000 posts!!!! Tina, you are the lucky winner! (I will send you one of my tiny torpedo eggs, lol!)
Thanks for the congrats! I have been freshening up my nest boxes with shavings and crushed lavender buds. I don't know if it helps, but it smells nice and is pretty.![]()

When God was handing out "patience", I thought he meant "patients" and said "no thanks, I don't want any."...just saying![]()

My sister is having Thanksgiving this year, Lord help us all! This is her invite!
Are you adventurous? Do you like to take risks? Thrill seeker maybe?
If you answered yes to at least one of the questions, then I gladly extend my invitation to you,to be present at my residence ( where I live this year ) this Thanksgiving 2017.
Do you eat out of reused butter containers? Chinese take out containers? Or, how 'bout those KFC little dish with red top? (Great for condiments by the way )
If so, then you will feel right at home.
Bring the chitlins' ( children ). I have a big area for smokers, it's called the outside.
Menu is simple. Basic staples that the indians & pilgrims had. Why? Cuz I'm just as broke as they were.
Now, for those who might not already know..... It's been rumored I'm not a great cook. If this worries you, pack a a lunch for back up.
Please bring drinks for yourselves and your rug rats. I also advise you to bring something your kids can play with ( and I don't mean crayons or markers )
So stop in. We'll laugh, we'll cry, we'll talk about each other behind our backs.
Hope you stop by and remember ........
Gifts for the hostess is always accepted
( cash is good )
Signed,
Tina C
