@pitbullmomma Sounds like you may get an egg! Some of mine go in and out of nests, sing the song of their people over and over and still don't lay for a few days. But some just do all the drama in one day and lay right then. Some sing the song before, some after the egg and some sing it if someone else lays an egg. Chickens are just weird. If you get one hanging around the coop a a lot, chances are youre gonna get one!!

Yesterday, my Orp laid her first egg and it was 3 hrs of drama. Screaming, going in and out of the coop, digging in the shavings, going into nests, then leaving coop and going back and screaming. Over and over this went on. She finally settled down into a corner and laid her dang million dollar egg! Then she sang. Meanwhile, my little cochin went in, got in the nest, laid her egg, sang her song and was done. Tons of drama and no drama, I cant figure them out! One consistently lays her egg on the poop board, one in a corner on the floor and one lays nicely in the nest.

Hahahaha, sing the song of their people!! That cracks me up, cuz my fam says that with like really Jewish or Italian food (Olive oil: The food of our people; Matzoh brie: the food of our people, lol)

Omg SO excited!!!!!! This eggless sh*t is killing me! I think I heard some of the other ladies chiming in, but like I said they all shut up when I got near the coops....should I dig through poop, or just wait for it to appear?

It's raining out, but Imma bout ready to run outside and riffle through poopy litter. Yeehaw!!!!! :)

Pshhh Ive dug thru the shavings so many times looking for an egg! Just look in the nests, and in corners, behind things in the coop. You should be able to see the depression in the shavings if an egg was laid somewhere. And get your best chicken outfit on, and go sit out there and watch them quietly for a little while, you should know pretty quickly if one of them is action weird.

As far as digging for them....ducks love to hide theirs, but none of my chickens do. they may get covered by other hens kicking stuff around, but not usually.

Nothing. I just looked all over, in the rain. Poor Betty got crapped on (a big load of cecal poo) from the Cemanis, all over her chest, and I found a tiny bit of bloody schmoo/poop on the ground by my run. Probably hers, but I'm NOT touching that nasty cecal-pooed on critter!:tongue

OOoohhh, I love your coop, it's beeYOUtiful!!! So creative and roomy, I love the curtains for the nest boxes! Is your one blue girl a Favaucana, she looks exactly like my Blueberry!

Thank you...I love it too!!! I tell my husband every day what a wonderful job he did! I think the girls like their curtains too because when I'm hanging out with them they go in and out of the nesting boxes like they are putting on a show ;)!

Esmeralda is a Blue Ameraucana. I think I might make me some Favacuna's next spring as I I'm keeping one of the Faverolles boys that I have (I've got three to choose from). They are currently about 10 weeks old.

I'm dying for my first-ever egg. My first batch of pullets are 22 weeks--3 silkies, a Mille Fleur d'Uccle, and a bantam cochin. My second batch are two 20 week Ayam Cemanis and a younger stunted one.

No eggs as of yet, although my cochin has had the reddest, plumpest comb ever, red wattles, and is eating the oyster shell I put out for my girls. I have fake eggs in the coop. Every day I run out excitedly looking for eggs, I get an adrenaline burst when I see that fake egg cuz it looks so real! and nothing.

I want an egg!
U got a light in thete?
