Hello;
I'm a new chicken owner, I just started a few months ago, quite by accident. My neighbor got chickens and they kept ending up in my yard. The first couple of times we went crazy catching them and bringing them back before our dogs got them. Finally he got a coop, but by then, his rooster had decided to live at our house. He enclosed his chickens and left the rooster out. Dickie, as he is now known, lived in our trees for a little while and then came down to hang at our barn with our horses. My other half called me one night worried about Dickie starving and asked me to get chicken supplies on my way home from work. We fixed our fence so the dogs can't get in with them and then I decided that Dickie needed some friends. And then more friends...
At this time, I have 2 ducks, 1 midget white turkey, 1 turken, 3 roosters and 6 hens.
I'm not very familiar with breeds. I know I have a silkie mix, a turken, a brahma rooster, a Sultan, Cochin... Not sure exactly about the others.

I found this website doing google searches for questions regarding their care.

I am involved in animal rescue. I work a ton of hours but when I am off I love to spend time with my kiddo, read, write, paint, and I love photography and photo editing.

I have 2 dogs (Great Dane and Pit Bull) 4 cats, 1 Sulcata tortoise, 2 rabbits (plus 7 foster rabbits), 4 horses (QH, Arabian, 2 standardbreds), and the flock mentioned above.
