I'm planning to hatch chicks for sale for the first time soon.

This IS exciting! So ... will you be selling the chicks you hatch? Hatching eggs? Or nothing until the chicks you're now hatching grow up and start to produce?

Also, whereabouts are you located and where do you plan to market to? (I'm in SE Missouri.) Will I be able to buy from you? I'm hoping to add some olive/green layers to my flock.

I plan on doing a little of both. There's a few I will be keeping to add to my production levels, but I plan to keep hatching and selling more chicks. I wish I was closer to help you but I'm in central Texas and only able to sell local for right now.

Couldn't wait a full week to candle, but today is day 5. And good news! I clearly saw little dots and healthy veins in all but one of my maran eggs. It was still dark and had an air sack though, it could just be hiding so I put it back anyway.
Here's the clearest picture I could get of one of them

We're already down to 9 days left to go and I checked on them again. I was right about that one, it never developed so it might not have been fertilized to begin with. But 29 out of 30 is pretty good! I'll be posting a lot more pictures once the babies start hatching 🐣

I've recently upgraded my flock size to be able to have 3 roosters. Hens only need a rooster to succeed once every 24 days to keep their eggs fertilized but I've found that hens have favorite roosters and roosters they will absolutely refuse no matter what. Having 3 makes sure all the eggs get fertilized.

I bought these from someone but will be using my own roosters in the future, I currently am starting to see some fertility in a couple eggs from these suspected guys, they are young still though

Beautiful roos you have there! All of my roos have at least started trying as soon as their combs turned that bright red. Might take some time for them to gain reputation with their hens but as long as the hens have been laying for about a month, and your roos have been in there with them for another month I think you'll have success.
