It shouldn't if you are using a sharp saw. Are you using a crosscut saw or a rip saw?

For cutting across a board you should use a crosscut saw. Your drawing does not look like a crosscut or rip saw.

No, I’ve only ridden a horse twice in my life - first when I was five and the guide was leading my horse through the prairie.
And last when I was eleven and got bucked off by a hungry gelding…having relieved himself of his burden he headed straight for the barn to get his dinner!

I am not what you would call a "Horse Woman". But I can and do enjoy riding. DD had her first ride with me holding her in the front of my saddle when she was 6 months old.
