I'm old enough to remember that TV stopped broadcasting at Midnight, ended with The National Anthem, and went to colored bars and white noise...

That’s how I went from a D in immunology to a B: found book in school library night before final exam & spent all night cramming. Phew!I was often able to get copies from the school library.
Started hearing it in my head before pressingOh great now o have that song stuck on my head - sheesh!
Oh my, yes! The bubble machine... Both of my grandmothers were dedicated fans; the show always seemed to be on when we'd visit. Yet, their other two favorites were Roller Derby and "professional" wrestling! The Lawrence Welk show....
Yes! That was the one night Mom would permit eating dinner on TV trays so we could all watch Wonderful World of Disney. (Not TV trays every week, but sometimes, and it was always a proper home-cooked meal.) So many animal-themed stories: "The Horse With the Flying Tail"; one where a family of raccoons got into someone's workshop and activated power tools [leading to disaster]; a desert coyote stowaway who ends up finding his way around a city...of course now they live in practically EVERY town & city in the U.S.!Sunday evenings ~ the whole family gathered together in the livingroom for The Wonderful World of Disney (not usually animated) weekly broadcast, with our bowls of popcorn that Dad made in a pan over the stove, and drizzled with real, melted butter
The Manson Family murders...we were living in Chatsworth, CA at the time, and their Spahn Ranch HQ was in the hills beyond our suburb. People were horrified, and afraid not knowing if there were more to come.Ruby Ridge and Waco...![]()
My Dad was a Navy pilot in WWII and then Lockheed test pilot. He installed seat belts in our cars WAAAY before it was a thing and told us, "The car won't start unless everybody fastens their seat belts!" Sadly, our neighbors across the street (~1963 or so) were in a horrible crash on their family vacation (no seat belts) and all died but one of their 3 kids. Needless to say, our whole family is adamant about wearing seat belts. When seatbelts were "optional" equipment
I did the same. Mercury dimes and flying eagle quarters as well as buffalo nickels too. All the Wheat pennies and white pennies too. Of course we kept all silver dollars that were real silver and real silver half dollars.I remember searching change for silver coins! I always saved them aside...I still have a big box filled with old silver coins. Can't remember when I stopped looking because they'd disappeared
