I'm so old I remember when Eisenhower was elected president and didn't know what it meant or who he was and it didn't concern me one bit. I heard the grownups discussing it as just a happening. No big deal to them either.

I never really thought about it but Eisenhower served as a WWII General for his presidential predecessor Truman.
