SAME!I am old enough to remember when we used Fahrenheit and the Imperial system (feet, inches)
Now itās the metric system, Celsius, meters, kilogramsā¦. This is the system that is usually used in scientific study, and engineering.
Currently itās -4C (thatās 26F).
A house here (just a lot no average) is around $900,000 I have no idea how anyone affords that.0.2 acres of completely raw land here starts at $25,000. The economy has only ever gotten worse. Dramatically so
My DH#1 and I bought our starter home, 2.5 ac with a 2 BR MH in NM in the early 70's for $25,000. I now see ads for trucks for $50,000 to $70,000 and I just shake my head in disbelief.
HahahaSAME!
I remember when they switched the speed limit signs from Imperial to Metric; my dad pointed it out on the highway where it had gone from 60 to 100. I was stunned! Of course I was just a little kid but that always stayed with me.
I say I'm bilingual in measurements!
Like buying a house these days. And they are all computerized and electronics, I canāt even replace my battery myself in my truck due to the computer system in it. Sheesh!I remember watching The Price is Right when cars were around $2000.
Used to be a loan would be for 3 years or less; now they are 7+ years!
(How are your chooks BYW? Good to hear from youI remember watching The Price is Right when cars were around $2000.

Hahaha
Yep I go around switching between saying -4c and 25F just to make myself feel better, after all isnāt 25C the perfect temperature?
-4c and snow squall warnings up for here, DS and BIL and DN have had over 100cm (3ā) of snow since Friday - been squalling all night there so I bet they are up to 150cm by now (over 4ā) up in Washago way.
Gotta love metric systemā¦
They have made it so you cannot do your own maintenance anymore, not even an oil change!!! And the vehicles are CRAP!Like buying a house these days. And they are all computerized and electronics, I canāt even replace my battery myself in my truck due to the computer system in it. Sheesh!
I remember when cars first came out with voice warnings: āThe door is ajarā. The great peels of laughter we had over that and we would say āno itās not itās a doorā!
Now they have satellite OnStar systems and all other gadgets.
And in Brampton there are Self Driving delivery trucks! Can you imagine the double take I did when I saw that on the road! Thought there was a kid or something driving that I couldnāt see!
Wow I am getting old!

I used to be pretty self sufficient maintaining and mending my car.Like buying a house these days. And they are all computerized and electronics, I canāt even replace my battery myself in my truck due to the computer system in it. Sheesh!

In a past work van I had, I had to change the battery. We'll after a while exploring I found it under the drivers seat. Just above it like 1/2" was all the metal springs and tracks and stuff for the seat! Could they have picked a better spot? Guess notI used to be pretty self sufficient maintaining and mending my car.
Now I am not even sure what all the parts are when I open the hood. And I donāt think the battery is even there any more. It is under the back seat maybe?
