I'm so old I Remember when:

I was the third if 3 and the only male so I got beat by my sister's being both my dad's only son and the youngest. They thought I was spoiled, I mean I was but still, not my problem
My dad wanted a second son and I was enough of a tomboy trying to keep up with my brother, it was almost like he got his wish. Maybe that's why he called me by the ♂️ version of my name. Mom always used the ♀️ nickname ... until I'd get in trouble then the long version was used. When the trouble was serious enough, the middle name was added and when my brother and I were in trouble together the names were combined into one for efficiency. I don't recall ever getting into trouble together with my sister. I suppose that's a good thing as some names just don't mix.

Zeeland is a very real province south of Holland with several islands. Not a fairytail. 🧚🏽😂 Most islands are connected to each other and protectected with dams to protect it against storms and flooding. One part is attached to Belgium.

Utrecht is a Province and also the name of the capital town of the province. Its a small province. The centre for Dutch traffic, roads and railways. Its also an old town with much history and a large University.

Friesland is a province in the North that has its own language. Friesland has many lakes and canals where people go on holliday for watersports. The Frysian chickens origins is located there.

Another strange language thing. The name Dutch bantams is Hollandse kriel in the Netherland. And we have a Hollands hoen, a beautiful but very different heritage breed too. Many chickens breeds have roots in the Netherlands. Like the Barnevelder and the beautiful new breed Schijndelaar, that lays green eggs.
Like to see some pictures of Dutch breeds ? : Its a pdf so unfortunately auto-translate wont work.

Some beautiful chickens there. I really covet Barnevelders - I love their plumage.

We have a saying here (thanks to our most famous soccer player Johan Cruyff) that goes like: Every advantage has its disadvantage.
The Barnevelder has a few advantages like good looking and laying much eggs. But they have a big disadvantage being prone to Mareks disease, at least here in the Netherlands. Maybe this doesn’t apply for the States. :idunno

I remember reading an article by a woman who was giving advice about naming children (and no, it was not Erma Bombeck).

She cautioned against giving twins names that almost rhyme. Like two boys named Dirk and Eric. Who were forever referred to as Dirk and Irk. :lau
So glad my parents did not name us triplets with names that rhyme. I would hate to be Holly, Polly, and Molly

I'm so old I remember attending a small town church that had hand fans furnished by a local funeral home as there was no AC. I remember how the older ladies all wore long dresses they called Frocks. I was to young to have a clue as to what was happening at that time and all I wanted to do was go home and play in the orange grove. I sat there watching the second hand going around on the big clock on the wall. I wish I had more old memories of my other set of grand parents.
and that second hand moved EVER SO SLOWLY.

Soooo, the funeral home had advertising on the fans???
