So true.....I don't think I'll ever have to worry about having too much money tho......not unless we take up a different line of work!!

I had no idea predators are such a big factor in the raising of chickens.
Everything we do in regards to their indoor and outdoor coops/pens has foxes, coyotes, dogs, etc. in mind. It's so frustrating. Two weeks ago I was cleaning their coops and turned around in time to see a strange dog running down the drive with my black silky in his mouth. Apparently I yelled loud enough and the stupid thing dropped the chicken and ran. Feathers everywhere but I got the dog pretty good with a rock on the way off our property. The silky lost a toe but other than that we were lucky. I'm considering a gun. Our guys have to be kept in coops in the garage at night, and when I go to work during the day they're stuck in there til someone gets home. I feel for them , not getting out all day. Thank goodness I work at a school and am out for the summer so they get some quality outdoor time with the ducks. I love dogs but jeez...

I am sorry for your loss. I would think if you only found feathers for 4 that you just might get some wondering back home, at least I pray you do.

I am not sure what is going on with your granddaughter as I have not read anything about her but I will pray for her and your family. Congrats on the new grandbaby to be.

Grandbabies are our only retirement benifit from raising children. I know if I would of known grandbabies were so fun I would of skipped parenting all together (and I loved parenting) There sure isn't a retirement plan in parenting.

Prayers and hugs

Once I left it open and a fox took about five. I am ready to shoot the fox as soon as I see it.

Probably a good plan. Guess what that fox is teaching it's kits...
