Impacted crop .....

Well, good news. On the advice of the homeopathic vet, we reopened the wound which had not really healed well. Instead of (human quality) Crazy Glue which hadn't worked completely, we sutured her with disolvable thread. I fed her Arnica and Calendula as per the vet's instructions for the first day. She is drinking on her own and I have given her wet chick starter, which she is now eating. She seems much happier. I sit her in my lap several times a day and do Reiki on her, which she seems to enjoy. (I think she also likes the contact.) I am so amazed at the tenacity of hens. Almost everyone we consulted with advised us to euthanize the hens straight off. I am glad we could offer them something else. By the way, I just want to clarify that we were able to do the procedures without hurting the birds, thanks to a good vet who gave us the freezing injections.

The other bird is back in the coop and you would not be able to pick her out from the others!!

That's fantastic news! Yes it's surprising how many people say 'just get rid it's only a chicken' glad you pushed on & she's doing great

Still swollen, feels watery however she's pooing, eating, running about & laying eggs. Could she just have a pendulous crop? As i assume after surgery that the crop muscle is not as strong as it used to be! Anyone else had this?

Is her crop completely flat before she eats and drinks in the morning?

Her crop is huge! I'm real stumped for ideas!? It's squishy but cannot feel a blockage, it doesn't smell, she eats, runs around, poops, isn't loosing weight, lays eggs, pushes the others around etc. I've read about crop bras maybe that will help!!?

She might still be soured. You may not always smell soured. You could try an antifungal like Fluconozole. If she had pendulous crop, a bra would be helpfully. What does her poop look like, is it normal looking, diahrea.

Her poop is normal solids little brown & white (the usual) will give her anti fungal medicine as a precaution. This one is puzzling me!? Thanks for your help, I'll keep plugging away at it!

I would think her poop would be diahrea if she is soured or even impacted. Could you make her a crop bra and see if that helps, maybe she is now pendulous.
