Impacted nostril??? What in the world is this??? PICS UPDATE post 27

Owning as many chickens as I have for so many years, I have NEVER had to dig an impacted hard boiled egg out of a nostril LOL. That is just crazy, and I'm so glad you got it.

I can't be sure that egg yolk is what that is but it sure looks like it and fits seeing as I did feed them hardboiled eggs that day. But for it to get soooo hard, I suppose it was from mucus mixing in there making it like concrete. After soaking it with a warm rag for a few minutes I had to cut around the edge with a sterilized exacto knife being very careful not to cut him while DH held his head steady. I then grabbed the tweezers and pulled out the mass. He was such a trooper and barely flinched the whole time. I will have to have lil chat with bernie and tell him he is NOT to snort egg yolk anymore!

Well think about it, how hard is it to get egg yolk off of dishes that have been sitting a while. You practicaly have to sand them.

Excellent news! You did great! You could rinse with saline, but you'd have someone hold him with his head tilted downward so the water can fun through one nostril and out the other. Bet he'll be fine now!

Geez - so glad he is okay -they are worse than kids!! All I could think of with this thread is a little kid sticking a bean up his nose!!
