Oh, chickens they lay grey eggs. Thought you meant a gray chicken. I'm tired.

Out of curiosity, why don’t you use chanteclers or oriental games for the cushion comb? They both have other traits that you want for your breed. It's actually hard to breed out beards, it's a dominant trait that shows up in unbearded silkies, that have been bred to bearded silkies sometime in their ancestry for example. I want to avoid beards as much as possible for this project, & maybe add a bearded variety later on.
I’ve seen cockerels go for $15-20 on Craigslist. I think the price is going down because so many people are breeding them now.Found somebody selling Ayam Cemani on BYC. Asked price, he wants $2000 per bird. Can't afford them.
Ueah, but you can always get the minimum per variety for those and then a bunch of cheaper birds you'll need or wantI'll have to see, because I'm on a tight budget, & have 81 birds to feed plus chicks.
The most I've spent on hatching eggs, or birds is around $100, or alittle more. I try to stay below $100.
I spend about $81-$88 on chicken food about 1-2 times a month, depending on how Turkey crazy my dad gets. I bought feed like 3-4 times a week for his gluttonous birds, that squashed a couple of his guineas this year.
We had a total of 9 Broad Breasted turkeys that eat as much as 10 chickens each. Have 4 left to butcher plus 10 chickens.
$49 is responsible, but they do have a small order fee, which is about $25 if I remember correctly.
I'm getting 12 Saipans next spring which will help with sizing, & comb type.Out of curiosity, why don’t you use chanteclers or oriental games for the cushion comb? They both have other traits that you want for your breed.

I'm limited on space, so I usually order a small quantity. My grandpa won't let me add anymore coops until he passes away. I keep my birds at his place since he lives on farm land, & has 10 acres.Ueah, but you can always get the minimum per variety for those and then a bunch of cheaper birds you'll need or want
So you only need silkies for black skin?I'm getting 12 Saipans next spring which will help with sizing, & comb type.
I don't use Craigslist. But those prices are good.
Also for the walnut comb shape I want, I'll also be getting Cornish Games to help with meatiness, comb flatness. So you only need silkies for black skin?
Well, you don’t necessarily need them for that, seeing as you’ll be crossing in other breeds with walnut combs. Also for the walnut comb shape I want, I'll also be getting Cornish Games to help with meatiness, comb flatness.
Okay, but it'll at least strengthen the comb type genetics.Well, you don’t necessarily need them for that, seeing as you’ll be crossing in other breeds with walnut combs.
Oh, okay that's fair. Know anyone near you that is planning on ordering too? You can always combine orders. It's what I do so I don't have to get 25 birds when I only need 5 cause I refuse to just pay for a small order feeI'm limited on space, so I usually order a small quantity.
