I agree, but as someone who wants to do some of the same things purely for fun (like growing purple peas or learning to spin cotton or painting little figurines), I appreciate that the preppers help keep the suppliers in business

Agreed. It's commonly called a "SHTF" scenario. Or "end of the world AS WE KNOW IT" scenario. Some examples include the supervolcano under yellowstone erupting, an EMP attack big enough to wipe out most of the USA transistor stations, aliens, a disease strong enough to wipe out a majority of the human population, zombies, etc. Humans aren't all instantly wiped out. But the world *as we know it* is gone. All/most of the Stuff we've made is still here probably, but the world no longer functions the way it does today and a lot of knowledge and infrastructure is lost.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They are an organization that takes protection of animals to an extreme. Before people jump all over me yes I realize that they do many wonderful things for animals. It’s just my opinion that they go too far with their campaigns and making people feel bad.

I thought it stood for People Eating Tasty Animals
