Oh wow! It's only -1 up here right now and I'm about 2 blocks from Georgian Bay, trees are almost still but it looks like it wants to snow even though the sun is out.

So why do they call i spring break at -9 degrees!!

My spring break plan calls for throwing them out of the house!! Go PLAY!

"And while you're at it, let the chickens free range and you guys keep a look out for the hawks!!"

But it is 40 to 50 degrees here!

Once in college I fashioned some cardboard to make a ring--and then put lids on this ring 0 so like that....and then I bought party hats and put them around the ring...and papermached a SUN. And then I had fun spray painting it orange, yellow, red, and blue....turned out really wild. Then I hung it from my bedroom ceiling for a while.

Do you have boxes? Big boxes? you can usually get free boxes here at the grocery store or great big refrigerator boxes...at appliance stores....my kids love decorating them like a little house or village and hiding out in them all day with their stuffed animals.

We do inside "tents" too...draping blankets across tables and chairs...and then putting on a movie like we were at the outdoor theater.

Do you have those bounce ball hoppers they sit on and bounce on? My mom and older sisters used to have me bounce on their line dry clothes....sweaters...that can not be dried in the drier...place between 2 towels...and hop hop hop away. Tired me out and got their clothes drier.

(here's one)

Slather pine cones with peanut butter and roll in bird seed, tie some yard around and make a hook...take a lil walk outside and hang them on the trees.

Food ideas:
rootbeer floats
bananna bread w/ choc. chips and marchino cherries
make your own pizza
carmel popcorn

RECIPE:

Kitty Litter Cake

1 box yellow cake mix
1 chocolate cake mix
1 cup of Hershey's chocolate syrup
30 chocolate mini tootsie rolls
1 new plastic kitty litter pan and scoop
Bake the cake mixes according to the directions on the box. Let cool. Break up the cakes and place in the kitty litter pan. Add the tootsie rolls, mix up, pour Hershey's syrup over it and serve to your party guests with the scoop.

I just bought cork boards for their rooms...so after I get them hung, we will be "decorating" those with their calendars I got at the dollar store, pics of family and friends, and their art work.

And we're going to work on learing to tie shoes for my older dd and poddy training the youngest.

We will go swim one day and we will be puppy sitting for a friend so that will keep my girls occupied...and the last weekend we will have their aunts and cousins visiting at Grandma's house.

Have fun and if I think of something else, I'll make sure to post.

me,
g

they love the kitty litter cake...they ask me to make one every year at Halloween for school

thank you so much for the links

do they have friends they could do a mom swap with one day. Gets them out of your way for a day and a day some where else for them. All the moms would get a day off if there were a couple of them to rotate.

When we were kids modeling clay kept us busy all day, making things and baking then painting them. I dont think its too costly either.

Here's another one . . . Make a stepping stone or two for the garden. Let them decorate it.

The great thing about this is that you can put their hand or foot prints in it. Years from now when they're grown and on their own, you'll still have it to remember how little they once were.
