In the emergency of a natural disaster where do you move your chickens?

It's great to hear that the fire in your area has been contained, Butterscotch! I hope that it stays that way, and that more fires are brought under control soon.
A lot of animals have certainly been killed or injured by the fires. It is saddening and awful. However, I think that even the species that have taken heavy losses will eventually bounce back, though some help may be needed for some. After all, they've persevered this long, right? Sorry if that sounds cold -- just looking on the bright side. Sorry if I upset anyone.
Stay safe, everyone.

The biggest loss re koalas is Kangaroo Island where our biggest known population is. I haven't really seen it in the news headlines but its been very badly burnt out. Alot of our native species are endangered already unfortunately so it is very sad. But yes, aslong as we have a few left of each and we take proper care of them, we can breed them up again hopefully. Alot of work yes, but possible. We've seen the funding start rolling in to help the wildlife

Your totally right. I’m pretty much certain this isn’t the first fire that this has happened at these locations nor is it the first I am sure to cause so much destruction

Yeah mum adopted me and dad a koala each for Christmas to fund their health

yes so many animals gone :( I have cried so many more tears over these fires, than any others in my life time. Now the cooler weather needs to stay till all the fires are out

We had heavy rain here today @Oz chic . Hopefully it will put out some of the big fires that have been going for months.

How's it going down your way? Any rain yet?

we had a thunder storm last night, was quite worried to start with, as we only got lightning and thunder, last time it did that, it started a few fires round town. then the rain poured down and we got about 8mm.

then today there was rain on the radar, but it just disappeared as it got close to us...it is trying to sprinkle now, but that is it. We seem to live under a magnetic field that zaps away the rain :gig

hope you got heaps up your way, these fires have got to end

So frustrating! :rant

I've just checked "fires near me" again. There are 3 new fires that weren't there this morning :he. The older ones are still listed as "under control" though so hopefully the rain keeps up as the forecast says and doesn't start any more than it puts out! :fl

So very frustrating :he we just got drizzle for an hour..the red/yellow/dark green on the radar was just drizzle for us apparently :rant

oh no not more fires, not good at all. Hopefully the cooler weather conditions give the fires the upper hand. Are you expecting more rain?
