IN with the old... OUT with the new!

:lau:highfive: I have a collection of animal teeth too!! Teeny tiny puppy and kitten teeth...I keep them in a drawer of my jewelry box...my husband thinks I'm strange:hugsglad I'm not alone!!

Oh I also have puppy teeth from our first dog, we picked her up the day after our honeymoon. I put them in a Christmas ornament which looked like a little metal purse that hinged open, so it's there but not obvious to anyone looking.

i am all about the old stuff.
my kitchen stove is an old round cornered model gas stove that does not pulg in to a wall electrical outlet. i love this 1050's model. it works just the same if the power fails or not.
my avitar is a photo of my dads 1946 Dodge Powerwagon that still plows the snow in my driveway each winter.
my mothers old cast iron dutch oven still is the only pan that i will use to fry chicken or make venison stew. the other cooking pans i have just dont end up with the same flavor.
my summer car is a 1977 Mercedes 240D. it has a 4 cylinder Diesel engine that will run on used cooking oil and will continue to run with very little maintenance or fuss. Yes it slow but that is my speed.
yes i have all the old board games too. my Sister and i used to stay up half the night playing Parcheesi. its made for 4 players but we would take 2 colors each to make it more exciting. she would take green + blue, i would take red + Yellow.
what a fun thread!

All that stuff about how vintage is better and then you complain your checkers are made of wood instead of plastic?:gig

OK, Quick poll: How many people reading this (still) have a flip phone?:old
Or better yet, a land line!:th

(Edit; flip phone here. Used to have a land line in my old house because getting a signal was hit and miss)

LAND LINE here for 50+ years. Someone gifted me with a cell phone last winter. I never wanted one. I don't want people to be able to reach me any time of the day. It never leaves the house. So no one will ever see me walking around starring at it instead of watching traffic or pedestrians. Or talking endlessly - while walking around a grocery store. Sorry but NOT for me.

My mobile is 10 years old, nearly 11; not a flip, a Nokia, and pay-as-you-go. I got it in case of emergency on the road, and I really like the fact that it is NOT a smart phone (i.e. small computer - except when I'm in need of google maps, of course  ). I spend about £30 a year on it, and the battery lasts a week (yes, really  ). The point about support is very pertinent: I have to change the sim when the current credit runs out, as the provider insists on going over to (vastly more costly) monthly subs henceforth, while still claiming it is a PAYG  So it's goodbye that provider. The hunt for a provider that still supports 3G (or is it 2G? dunno) was challenging but I found one that works here in the end...for now anyway. After that, it must go without saying that we have a landline :p

Because we're squirrels we also still have and play 20-30 year old versions of various board games - I expect the (adult) kids will ask to get out (at least) Monopoly, Cluedo, Othello, Uno, Pit and a deck or two of cards when we're all together at Christmas, and I really look forward to it! :p
