Incubating against the odds...

Ok girly.
Can you explain to me the way you count your days?
I've seen you mention a few times (elsewhere) with say day 18 (17) and it's confusing the heck out of me and I would like to understand.
:pop

Sav doesn't count days, after our second incubation she's on break. Since I've been hacking her account we've finally got a double namer! The confusion should taper as the signatures start to pop up. It won't let me go back and edit all the old old ones.
As for day counting... There is a great debate amongst the world about how many days it takes a chicken to hatch. Have you ever seen a thread where a new person claims to be on day 21, only to have a veteran chicken owner explain to them about a "day zero" or something about how if you hatch your eggs before noon you count that day and if you wait til one its the next day?
I use an app called hatchabatch to teack my days, and it doesn't have a zero day. So i drop my eggs at nine pm (midnight eastern standard) and that starts day one (zero). So when anyone has a hatching question, i usually drop a picture of my day (some peoples day less) to help identify where there chick should be (which is only a guideline as chicks grow at slightly different rates).

Thx! Let me sleep on this. I'll get back to you.

That day 0 and 1 thing always trips me up.
I don't sweat it too much anymore,
just figure +/- a day or two around that 21 days,
they'll hatch when they're gonna hatch.

I get the day zero and day one thing but what throws me off and screws ME all up is when you or your wife :)barnie I haven't figured out who does it yet) posts both numbers/days.
Just use one or the other. Please...for me?

LOL

If its this thread or your horse thread its me... She's been on the turkey talk lately.
But i can keep it to one definitely. Goal was definitely not to confuse anyone..

And that is a pip!
A horrible image through this incubator, as they all will be. But look forward for the good stuff in a "few" hours!
Ryan.
