Incubating eggs to hatch about August 8th

The last 2 hatched! 11 out of 11!

Not a very good pic, but I didn't want to leave the lid off for long. These were incubated in my Brinsea eco 20 with auto-turn, and were transferred to the hova bator after hatching.

So adorable!!! How big are they compared to LF chicks. They appear to be larger.

My hubby reports that our little special chick is doing well. I will probably put it out in the brooder this after noon when I get home. Hope he/she can keep up.

GratZ!!

Those are amazing chicks. I want some P's so badly! ( I also want Emu's and ostriches, and just about anything else with feathers,,,BUT my spousal unit is sorta against this) (read I better sleep with one eye open if I get them)

I may have to buy some mail order eggs and try it your way.

My peas are hatching!   9 out of 11 have hatched so far, and the last two are pipped and zipping!   Best hatch rate ever, especially with shipped eggs.  Will post pics later.

Cindysid,
if I may ask how are you incubating your P's and by your Peas I feel you must mean your peafowl. I have some eggs in the incubator myself right now and having never intubated peafowl before I'm wondering what was the humidity level you were incubating them at.

Put our runt out with her two hatchmates. Don't know if she will do anything other than peep. She wasn't interested in water. None of them seem to be.

On tomorrows hatch, I have two pips already!

I have Brinsea Eco 20's with autoturn cradles that I use to incubate, then I hatch in the hova bator (Styrofoam incubator). I threw away my hydrometer because it was always way off, so I just go by the air pocket. If it doesn't seem to be shrinking, I don't a add water. If it seems to be shrinking too much I add some. I want it to shrink by approx. 15% during incubation. It greatly depends on the humidity in your area. Here in South Florida I find that I add water about every 3 -4 days. I use sponges in the water reservoir to add humidity. My first couple of hatches I kept the humidity too high and some of the chicks literally drowned in the shell. Now I candle early and often and check that air pocket. I used to be afraid of opening the incubator so often, but after hatching a bunch of mutts and candling almost daily I learned a lot about egg development and it has helped me understand the process better. Invest in a good candler. It's worth it ! Once they start pipping, if the membrane seems too dry I up the humidity a little,

That was me. My kids are 21 months apart.

I take it I'm being welcomed to the club then, huh? My first two were 18 mos apart and #3 came along 2.5 years later. My mom's got us beat; I'm the oldest and my brother is 13 mos younger. My MIL had my DH and his sister 11 mos apart (she went to her 6-wk checkup from him pregnant with his sister).
