Incubating shipped eggs upright vs on side

The first chick has hatched! Almost 24 hours since the first pip. My kids were thrilled to get to watch it happen! We've got 6 eggs with pips now, hopefully they'll hatch soon because I'm sure this little guy will be getting lonely. Pictures when he dries off a bit!

Yep! He finally made it out. He had a lot of trouble but I have no idea why. The second chick just hatched (a Silkie) and he basically just fell out immediately lol.

Yeah, I posted and then looked down and realized the chick had gotten out while I was typing so I just went ahead and deleted it lol.

I'll definitely post pics when I get a chance!

No pictures yet since I have a bad Internet connection right now, but....I have a grand total of 10 chicks out of 28 eggs. 16 made it to lockdown. All the Silkies hatched, one is very small and weak so I'm not 100% sure he's going to make it, but the others are doing great.

4 Legbars hatched fine. One ruptured it's yolk and drowned while it was pipping, another pipped slightly and then died. The last few I'm fairly certain are dead. I candled them earlier and saw no movement or internal pip. I went ahead and stuck them back in the incubator but I don't have much hope.

The real kicker is...one of my few CLs that hatched, isn't even a CL! It came out of a blue egg, but the chick is black (maybe dark blue, hard to tell) with white wing tips, a white chest/belly, and a white spot on its head. No clue what it is. I suppose I should message the seller and find out what it might be.

I'm not sure. I don't know what else the guy has. I just sent him a picture of the chicks, I'm very curious about what he has to say.
