Incubating Shipped Silkie Eggs

Hi! I am currently ending day 7 of my silkie & Brahma shipped egg incubation... I am brand new to this but I've been documenting on my hatch along if you're interested! 2 of my eggs are TINY but growing! I don't know their lineage beyond "silkie" but interested to see if they end up smaller!

Hi, those 2 small Silkie eggs you have are what all 12 of mine look like. I’m also very interested to see if it means they will be smaller silkies or not

How did day 2 go

Day 2 has went quite well thanks. After a nightmare last time round I’m so pleased I’ve finally mastered the humidity in my incubator. Will candle around Day 5 to get a little bit of an idea how things are going

Bit of a scare this morning… woke up and some how the temp was at 35.5°C, it was at around 38.5°C last night when I checked. Tried to fix it and it went up to 41°C for a few minutes. Now got it back to a stable temp. Do you think the eggs will have died now?

Hopefully all is ok. I haven't incubated eggs but let a hen hatch them, she was off the eggs daily for half an hour or so, all eggs hatched. I think getting cool is better than getting over heated.

From my learnings and extensive research a moderate dip briefly is safer than getting too hot. It may slow your hatch by a few hours or a day but everything should be ok!

Thankyou, I think I might candle tonight to see. Although it’s only day 3 I heard sometimes on lighter eggs you can start to see some veins coming through.

Just candled and some had some faint veins in which is hopeful, one had a black dot in which I also think is a good sign. Will check again on day 5

Veins are fantastic. A black dot would amazing and definitely good signs!

These were my silkies at day 3! Hardly anything but some shadowing and blood islands but as of now day 9 they're all doing great.

Day 5 I had hearts and an eye! I think you will, too!
