We are remembering 9/11, and preying for more sanity in the world.

I've lost complete faith in the human race lately. The more crap that I hear about our government doing or not doing just angers me. I hope that somebody wakes up and can fix the problems that we face. And that some of these people that vote realize what they're voting for and not just voting for free stuff.

That's definitely a good idea. I'll have to look at that as an option too - I have to get a tarp for our second kennel, our chicken we put in it, and she flew out and went back to the goat pen. LOL I didn't think a 10 foot high panel would make a RIR hen fly out, but she did. LOL
I do it in front of my coop that opens out with a pop door too because a full size meat goat can force her way through even an eleven inch pop door
the ones where I have a big door I just attach it at two corners. One I undo and pull the panel out of my way when they are not out.

If the other eggs show no sign of hatching, will a stuffed animal be enough until I can run to buy a small mirror for the brooder? I forgot to buy one while I was out yesterday.

One last thought, I have some older chicks, that are 2-3 weeks old, I could take out the pair of silkies and put it in the brooder, with the baby.

That could work. Though it is a bit of an age gap. Only you know if the Silkies will be too rough. If they are, wait until the newborn is a week old.
Yes, a stuffed animal is fine without a mirror.

Once the chick is fluffed up and I can take it out, I can try it with the pair of silkies they are pretty mellow and got pushed around by the other chicks. They are tiny, compared to the others. (cochins, polish crested, and red sexlinked.) They stayed small compared to the rest.

I'm not 100% sure if my silkies are bantam silkies, or regular ones. But, they don't seem very aggressive or pushy, so far at least.

I put them in the separate brooder and turned on the heat lamp to play with the heat settings. It's hot enough in Texas, that once they are a couple weeks old, I stop using the heat lamp altogether, or I run the risk of over-heating them.

Humidity is around 76% in the brooder, so she should be able to dry out okay. The other egg looked viable, but being texas, they were kept in a bowl in my bathroom until we had 6 eggs to put in the incubator, so it's entirely possible (it's day 21 as of this morning, I think.) that this little egg, is a day or two ahead of the other.

My bathroom was known for being around 100, with 40% humidity, due to our weather. LOL
