I have a mini as well. How did you do adjusting humidity at lockdown? You have to open the whole top to add water... I lost one that piped when I did that last time I used it. I want to be able to use it as well.

I soaked a washcloth and put it in there. I did have to get it wet once or twice. But I like my humidity a lot higher than most people.

I had an emergency this morning!!! I checked on my mom hen and the eggs at 7 and closed the mom in. Well she must have wanted to do her daily 15 min. leave the nest, and busted through the barrier I had keeping her in.the at 10:45 I went to check on her, and she was in the wrong nest box, and the incubator eggs I had put in with her were cold, (it is about 32 out) one had zipped and was still in egg. I put mom back on her eggs back, (I figure she should be good and stay with her eggs another 24 hrs. I brought in the zipped chick and popped off her egg. she was cold and not moving at all, I massaged her and called her Nancy, that is her egg name, and put a warm damp towel on her, I kept massaging her and peeped to her, she has been moving around a bit, you see this pic has a bit of movement. I am going to keep an eye on her.Poor baby! she is on heating pad
Oh I hope she makes it. *hugs

I just top off both chambers like it says and never open it. So far it's done great. I don't run out before at least one chick hatches and once a chick hatches it adds to the humidity. I leave them in till they all hatch or it's getting too crowded (to prevent smothering).

I guess if you have to open it, you could spritz the top with a water bottle so the humidity bounces back fast....like I said I've never had a problem with it during lockdown, if anything mine got TOO humid ;)

I just signed up for this forum today, although I've been lurking around here for awhile just getting information. I am very new to this. I just got my incubator, and it is all set up - perfect temps and humidity. We are just waiting for our eggs to arrive! We are starting out with 12 Ancona Duck eggs. So excited, I can't wait for them to arrive. I just hope they survive the shipping without scrambling.

Girls are almost over their molt. Fed all of them a 1.5 kilo can of wet dog food today and started a new batch of fermented feed (had to disinfect the whole bucket because the old food was beginning to smell off). Coop building resumes in doubletime tomorrow, in-laws come home this weekend and I want it built and the old POS coop gone before they get back!
