country crock dish!!!! love it!!!So sorry all that I've been MIA been quite the weekend around here not to mention last week. Well firstly @Cynthia I am so sorry for your loss and sending hugs and prayers your way.
Secondly @Sally Sunshine thank you for asking about my little ones that had cocci. I do believe the three are out of the woods although they're main diet still consists of moistened crumbles I don't care because they're alive and eating and they need to regain the weight they lost. I'll deal with switching them back later.
And thirdly also @Sally Sunshine you don't know it as I hadn't joined BYC yet and was just a lurker but I too owe you a thank you. For your hatching 101 article and more importantly your assisted hatch article. My first hatch was silkies and three bonus bantam eggs. Well your article saved one of those bonus bantam eggs. I had quite a few problems with sticky chick as I hadn't calibrated and I was following the manual. Well I'm happy to say that of three eggs that needed help(one was already gone when I realized it) I managed to save one of them. The third died for unknown causes half way through the assist it was ready to hatch and there was no blood.
Little Crocket spent her first 36 hours in a padded country crock dish BC the other chicks were a little too curious. She is a self blue oegb and positively a puppy dog. She also layed her first egg last week.
So thank you thank you thank you a million times over. I couldn't have done it without that article. Thank you for all you do.
Also a few pages back I forget who posted it but the beautiful gray egg ohmigosh! I'm in love and I want it. Please post pics of the hen that layed it.
Adorable!

I hope you are feeling better todayIt is snowing..hard! Went to bed with it raining, we knew we would wake up to snow. We need it. We know that our mountains are accumulating the white stuff..that's what counts for us to help us get out of this drought. Now, if we could only have around 10 more good snow days like this. Worried about our apple tree out front that we didn't prune because we love the shape, it still has leaves on it. Have lost a branch or two in the past when it snowed like this before. Will have to take photos when we head out in a bit. It's so pretty out there.Have a great day everyone. Sounds like there are some babies here, and some real close to getting here. Good luck!
Well I decided to upgrade to a Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX the humidity pump seems to be a necessary upgrade and I have to much invested in eggs to struggle with the Genesis at least with shipped eggs. I hope I did the right thing... It should be here before my replacement eggs for the 0-12 BCM eggs and will come in handy for the Sky Blue Egg Araucana eggs I have coming in the spring.
I hope I can get fertility up soon, no promises, but at lease I am close enough for shipped eggsI really want to do a New Year's hatch, I'm just not sure what to hatch. I think I'm going to throw in some silkie/frizzle cochin eggs, just for fun.
And while I'm at it, I could throw in some mixes too... and what the heck, might as well do a few LavOrp eggs...![]()
Welcome to the thread and BYC!!! ancona are awesome! and a great duck to incubate, my favorite to candle!!!!!I just signed up for this forum today, although I've been lurking around here for awhile just getting information. I am very new to this. I just got my incubator, and it is all set up - perfect temps and humidity. We are just waiting for our eggs to arrive! We are starting out with 12 Ancona Duck eggs. So excited, I can't wait for them to arrive. I just hope they survive the shipping without scrambling.
you got to move it move it move it move itGirls are almost over their molt. Fed all of them a 1.5 kilo can of wet dog food today and started a new batch of fermented feed (had to disinfect the whole bucket because the old food was beginning to smell off). Coop building resumes in doubletime tomorrow, in-laws come home this weekend and I want it built and the old POS coop gone before they get back!
