I sell them at 3 days. If a chick (a very rare occasion) dies it will be within the first 3 days. I have sold 1000's and never once had anybody tell me there chicks or even a chick died. Thats why i have soooo much repeat business. Hatcheries send them to you on day one. So!!

I may be a new customer, but I want to check out the stock first. If you'll send me a dozen HRIR... and I like them... I'll buy a couple more from you. Sound like a good deal???

My ex still lives on the dairy farm he grew up on, his mom had a few chickens for eggs, eventually they came in and said NO chickens with dairy cows...she had to get rid of all.

Wait!!! Why?? Cows and chickens are great for each other. Cows what only digest 20% of there feed. If you have chickens they will eat what they leave behind. And its actually good for them. I know a lot of cow farmers here that purposely have chickens in the fields with them. The chickens actually keeps the parasites down in cow fields.

Just a refresher, I had issues with swinging temps and such, from incubating in a small place. I candled tonight (day 10) I have eight going great and 10 clear, the air cells are still a little small for my liking. I am going to hold off on adding any water for a couple of days, even though it goes against my grain to see that humidity reading at ten percent.

Yeah... they're pretty hard to come by. I contacted Good Shepard and asked about buying some of their heritage BR chicks, but not surprisingly, I never got a response. I got my eggs from Cackle Hatchery stock.

When I bought my Reds from Matt at the show here there was a person selling a pair of Rocks. they wanted $140 for the pair. I was like take them home and eat them. hahaha

I think it happened years ago, it was a long time before I lived there. I wondered the same thing. But considering everything that gets inspected, never questioned it

did you check her for lice or mites?   and what are you feeding her?  she is very barebutted

Ive seen some really barebutt chickens before so she didnt look to bad to me. But we are trying to put together some toys for them. Is there a way we can get them to stop pecking in the mean time? With like a squirt gun? Also she has barebutt the worse because she is the sweetest therefore at the bottom of the pecking order

Hi lozerface, I see you live in Alaska. I've found with living where it is cold & snowy myself that feeding a higher protein level feed in the winter months has helped decrease the feather picking. Feathers are made of protein, birds need protein to keep warm, to grow feathers & to lay eggs. If their diet is not providing enough protein to sustain all those things they can start pulling & eating theirs & other flockmates feathers for the added protein. If you don't have access to a higher protein level feed, then adding some boss (black sunflower seeds) to their diet will increase their protein intake too.

Dang it, it would be cheaper to order from Good Shepard! They only want $75 for a pair... and they're already dressed!!!

I'll bet your birds look just as good as the pair at the show. My BR's cost me $2 a dozen!!!

Haha. People are crazy here man. But its not that i wouldnt trust a lot of taking care of them, i just dont think they know how to take care of chickens that young. But i might sell them at a younger age. But then again i wouldnt mind holding on to them while they build their coop for the chickens and get things set up. I dont have this 100% figured out so my plans are bound to change. We'll just have to cross that bridge when we get there

Could anyone please tell me what's wrong with her butt!! I keep cleaning it and I put Vaseline on it but she has like loose stool. What should I give her? I already give her probiotics and electrolytes.

Had one hatch like that today. Kathy would give you the best advise. Me I just see if they can hang on.
