CC I agree about teh distance, that is whay I have used the word MINIMUM.
I saw pepole that divided their coop with a makeshift net, and put in one part the exsisting flock and in the other the new comer, and calld that quarantine......
I know. That won't work. Some things can travel a km or more.

No...no sound at all. If it was clicking, I'd think the battery was low or the cable ends were loose.

Maybe one of the safety switches.

I did take a quick peek, and it's very good! There are a couple of things that I no longer do, so I will mark it up with some suggestions and explanations of why I've modified what I do. Nothing major...

Maybe this is a silly question. Does it have a kill switch under the seat? Also is the PTO turned off when trying to start it?
How about the brake? Doesn't that have to be depressed?
Also, the blade lever. I was at a loss once and the blade lever was just a little off.
 
Also check to make sure the ignition switch works. And that the battery is well grounded.
Wire brushed both + & - negative cable ends. It cranked 2 days ago, but wouldn't fire...possibly old gas that I thought I'd drained last fall.
I can solve that problem with starting fluid once I can get it to crank.

Would I have voltage into the solenoid if a fuse was blown ahead of the solenoid...IDK

No clue as to that.
 
Good news, bad news...

Bad news is that the white leghorn that just showed up here about about year ago died. DH named her Lola, which is something he never does. Good news is that I hatched two of her eggs, so maybe DH will feel a little better having two of her offspring around.

Will do a necropsy myself.

 , your vet wasn't being completely honest with you, lol. Results from the gross necropsy are available the day they do the necropsy, which is the day they receive the animal. Tissue and fluid samples are sent out, those can take two or more weeks, depending on what tests they do, but if your chick died from something obvious, they will enter that info into the computer the day they do the necropsy. In the future, just bypass the vet and you'll get 1-3 emails. First one will be the preliminary report, 2nd or 3rd will be the final, which is usually the one that will include your FedEx bill.

I just recently sent a hen to Davis. They were accommodating and prompt. This was a way better option than trying one of 3 vets in the area, who's daily intake is cats and dogs. I do like your walkthrough for boxing, I happened to have a styro shipping container lying around, made that part easy. I sent mine out from a local postboxes place. They required the box contents and were admittedly weirded out. But were OK once it was all explained. I did fill out a separate form since it was a FedEx account waiving the stores responsibility of the boxes contents. The only carcass they had shipped previously was a dead skunk from the local health department, this was seized at a shipping center due to the decomposing stench. They apparently should have packed it better.
 
Both my mowers PTO has to be off. One has a kill switch which is a pain when cutting hills but nice to have if it kicks you off on the hills.
This mower has the widest footprint in the industry, but if the hill's that steep I don't mow sideways...I mow up & down, or ride the high side. I've got cleated AG tires on the back, much like farm tractor tires,,,they're pretty aggressive, but regular turf tires don't get it on my ground

I'm so sorry about the loss, but glad you have 2 hatched to maybe take her place. Let us know how the necropsy goes.

Yeah most hills get up and down when to steep. One tractor has the AG tires on the back, I use that one for the rougher stuff.

I really wish I had done that myself. In the future I will. I am waiting for a call back from the San Bernadino office. I believe the contact was going to find who has the bird - since we don't know which location the vet sent it to. Why do I believe that the smell from a decomposing skunk couldn't be contained no matter HOW it was boxed.....

Has no brakes except the parking brake, which hasn't worked for 20 years or more. This is a commercial zero turn; no steering wheel or brake pedal. If you want to stop or slow down, you pull back on the hydraulically actuated steering arms.

Only safety switch I'm aware of is the one under the seat, and it's been disconnected since the week I bought it 20+ years ago
