Catching up.  Can't respond to any, but no matter, Sally always helps in big ways.  
Loving the chick photos.
Feeling sad about Paris.  Prayers for sure. I hear that we are on a high alert now..not sure if that is true. 

Sally,  I have a question for you.  Or two.  One is embarrassing.  I'll go with embarrassing first.  Not to with hatching!   Is there a way to delete our posts that we don't need to see anymore on our profile page?  I know to hit the x when I don't want it as subscribed.  It's probably stared me in the face all of the multiple times I've gone in there to try and erase old old thread posts.  :/

And, I remember you saying something about the best way to hatch those dark Marans eggs.  Should have paid attention, I just got some from a friend, nice dark ones.  I have tried a couple of times with shipped eggs, not real great success at all.  You said..more humidity?  Higher temps?   ??

the best way to "delete" a post is to hit the edit button on your post delete all the text, write [deleted] in its place and save. Works for me

Just a little update - Day 20 here. VERY quickly checked the three silkie eggs; all chicks alive but no internal pips yet. Guess I'll be sat next to the bater ALL weekend, ears alert for that first squeak! 

Exciting! Good luck and post pictures! Day 18 for My first batch of eggs... Going into lockdown tonight!

less humidity, but you always do.... but again its those air cells and age of eggs, marans tend to have bigger thicker eggs I run temps at 100.5-101 I am actually very upset right now speaking of marans, I just was out with juvies and I smelled something and I told you hubs has been doing the majority of the work out there, well the new layers I had gotten were two buff orfs that I always wanted, two cuckoo marans, two whites that I have no clue what they are yet, I went to take pictures of them and never got to it I am so upset.... anyways.... the stink is a buff orf

looks like her foot is stuck in a skid crack and right where hubs couldnt have possibly have missed her either. I am going to have his head when he comes home. I am so so upset, she was so pretty cynthia I got all the others just because I wanted two orphs I NEVER BUY CHICKS!!! I always hatch them!!! but I bought just cause I wanted them two!!!

Sorry to be confusing. I have an auto turner in the incubator (and now a 2nd bator for a hatcher).  What I do is keep 2 racks off the auto turner for the shipped eggs, because I have had a LOT of detached/rolling aircells of late. When I receive eggs, I let them rest at room temp for ~12 hrs, give or take.  Then I put them in the bator in the still racks upright. The rest of the racks are on the turner, and after 3 or 4 days I will switch the shipped ones to the turner. Sorry for the confusion!

. So the first two days, after settling 12-24 hrs, you don't turn the eggs but you start to incubate? I thought you needed to turn each day until lackdown?
