Like it's trying to pip in different spots? If so, I'd give it another 24 hours to see if it can break out on it's own.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But if she doesn't, I'm gonna carefully crack a tiny hole with a needle. At an angle, and I'll be candling while I do it to ensure I don't hit anything.

Not all dogs but a lot can be trained to leave them alone... Although I still don't let my dogs have access when the chicks are babies unless I am there... Too much temptation... As grown ups my dogs and birds all pack together and hang out.

If after 24 hours, you should try to see if it needs help. Are any of the pip in the air cell area? If so, I'd start there and work down to the inner membrane. Dampen the membrane to see how the chick is situated. Watch for blood, and if you see veins... stop immediately. If you can find the beak, I'd uncover it and put it back in the bator. Don't want to help it out if it hasn't absorbed the yolk. If you can get it to the point where it can feel an opening with it's beak, it'll come out on it's own when it's ready.

I need a good rooster! :barnie
A mean 10lb cornish, that would teach my dog real quick.
Mine are wusses. They are the first to run away from something, the pullets investigate!

If anyone has Silkies or Seramas, or knows someone, I'm looking for eggs to buy for incubating. The websites say things like minimum of 20, but I can't have 20 more. I wanted about 5 Seramas for show, and 3 silkies for my mom, because she really likes them for some reason.

I was going to use something very similar, but new posts were rolling by too fast

Yeah, but I dont have a full time house Rooster, and my Roos would pick on the chicks anyway, so, no. But outside, she has been attacked, pecked, it's almost comical.
Out of curiosity, is your BC purebred? I ask 'cause she looks very similar to a lot of Brittainy Spanials I've competed against.

Thanks, BYC! It all boils down to egg quality. I am lucky and had a very good source close to home. Not everyone has that option, so it's more or less a gamble for most folks.

Seeing single is a good start! How many fingers am I holding up???
