Thanks I'll see what I can do. Her box is only 12x12 so there really isn't a lot of extra room in there.

At 8 lb/gal I think even this old man can handle it. If not, I'm going to have to start buying feed in 5lb bags instead of 50's.whites I know your strong, but they do get heavy and awkward just so you know!

I've had 2 grown hens (RSL) share the same sized nest box to sleep in at night...not a problem IMOThanks I'll see what I can do. Her box is only 12x12 so there really isn't a lot of extra room in there.
Morning everyone! I'm finally one week away from our first chicks hatching and super excited, mama hens been doing such a great job. Though she is starting to look exhausted. Okay so my question is: Is there a safe way I can move mama hen and her eggs inside into the brood box before the hatch?
Right now she is outside in a laying/nesting box off the ground. And I would prefer her and thr eggs inside, it might be to cold for the chicks outside. And I don't want the other chickens pecking at the darling chickens either.
I was thinking of setting up the brood box with lots of cedar shake and moving her in there in the dark of night?
she dont need alot of room right nowThanks I'll see what I can do. Her box is only 12x12 so there really isn't a lot of extra room in there.
