Good morning, Seth. Any new hatches this morning?Good morning ALL
Good morning Aurora. I have a PRIR in heavy molt as well. Seems to be making it okay, but I was very worried about her for awhile. Been feeding her flock raiser crumbles (20% protein), and it seems to be helping. She's starting to feather out fairly well after a couple of weeks.
She probably started molting trying to get cool, you lucky dogGood morning Aurora. I have a PRIR in heavy molt as well. Seems to be making it okay, but I was very worried about her for awhile. I thought about boosting the protein full-time, but didn't want my layers to bulk up. I only bought the flock raiser to feed the young cockerels when I separate them from the pullets. I'd like a little extra meat on them before they go in the freezer...Glad to hear she's doing goodI feed everyone about 22% protien at all times (easier top feed everyone the same thing). I saw her shake off this morning and feathers went everywhere! But then I saw a nice shiny, thick, layer of new feathers underneath. I'm sure she'll be fine, I just get cold easy and it makes me shiver just thinking about it lol.![]()
Probably right. I didn't think about it being so awfully HOT down here. Supposed to get up to 60F today, and the low tonight is only 50F... and not supposed to get below freezing for another week!!!She probably started molting trying to get cool, you lucky dog![]()
