I am just amazed at how birds of a feather flock together ;) In a coop of several types even if they all brood together they hang out with those that look like them. Reds, Ameraucana, etc.
@ChickenCanoe Do you have an opinion on my two blues?

I've noticed this as well. With my ducks, the ones that hatched together stay together.

@Akrnaf2 I wish I could raid your tree ;) My pear tree will be ready after we get a cold night. Yummy, I can't wait. I lost my apples and plums to the nasty Japanese bettles :(
How are your chicks from early in the year? You have not posted any pictures lately.

6 from the 8 started laying so I am enjoying wonderful eggs!

The first time in my life that I have green eggs!
Trying convincing DW to have some Cuckoo Marans hatching eggs, time will tell!
You are more then welcome to have any fruits you want from my trees.

If you come that close I will come get it or ask my friend if I am working.
If I go, it will be for a couple days. I'll let you know at least a week ahead.
I have plenty of cockerels now but will be processing a bunch over then next few months.

They definitely do that. However, on occasion, I've noticed roosters sometimes favor girls of different colors.

If you're talking about your two Ameraucana roosters, I'm not claiming to be a feather color genetics expert but I was always told to build the house first and then paint it. So if the larger rooster's color is acceptable, go with him provided his form is correct. It's sometimes harder to get size than get color right.
Also, I lend a lot of weight to a rooster's temperament and potential as a flock protector.
I have a nice rooster that has been in a pairing for a long time (so the only offspring I have from him is from a single hen) and he's still sleeping in the building he hatched from. I had a problem with him from the beginning since the only sound he makes besides crowing is the call that an aerial predator is coming. For a long time, hens would run for cover but he was crying wolf. I have a problem with that.
Except fro crowing in the morning, a rooster should only be calling hens to food and make the predator call when there is a threat. Also, they should protect hens and not attack humans.

Where did everyone go?

I went to the store. Today is my anniversary. I need to get all the chores done, clean up a little and put together a nice dinner.

Yes Body!

Sorry!

I am after 11 lessons straight 8 am to 18:30, and I am extremely hoarse, so no fun!
Take care of that voice young man.
No fun to have to talk with a weak voice that needs to rest.

I'm here, sort of. Just trying to work a bit. My daughter has her first chicken 4h meeting tonight, so she's been bouncing off the walls with excitement.

That's nice.
