Incubator humidity

Hi, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Maybe you can remove water from the wells? Make sure all plugs are removed. Lift the lid and wipe off the condensation also.

I believe your gauge is off... have you calibrated it or do you have another to compare with? At 62% you should not be seeing condensation.

What day are you on? If your counter is correct... I might just leave it since you don't have that many eggs in there they shouldn't raise humidity too much farther when hatching. You can still wipe the condensation off the lid if you don't see pips already and you want to. But if hatching has started.. don't worry about it.

Can anyone tell me how to lower the humidity on this incubator?

push the
We are on day 1, just put them in. The timer counts down however many days you put on there so we started at 21 and it will count down from there. I removed one plug about an hour ago and the humidity has started going down some. It is now down to 56%.

I have the same... I was advised to throw the plugs away and do not use them... Never had a issue with the humidity without the plugs. Good Luck!

 got it! haha
I know it just sounds weird and I wish I could explain it but it's not that simple. There are way too many variables and the instructions don't know this.
If you have calibrated instruments...you go by those and adjust accordingly.

I have the exact same brand bator. Leave 1 plug in, make sure the humidity sensor is not on the bottom of the bator, wrap it around the rest of the wires so that it is half way from the top and bottom and not touching the eggs. Depending on the ambient humidity at your location will determine how much water you need to add to get the desired humidity in the bator.

My ambient humidity is usually around 35 to 50% , I only add about 2 table spoons of water every 2 to 3 days to maintain the humidity. The bator I have is very accurate at keeping the humidity and temps where they should be, unlike some other foam bators. (Got lucky with this one I guess).

At lockdown(I hate that term) I turn the other plug upside down and place it on top of the opening, leaving a very tiny gap. Keeps the humidity up were it should be and also allows for more air to enter the bator.

As @Texas Kiki , mentioned, get some more thermometers and a hygrometer and calibrate both, it's the only 'true' way of telling what your real temp and humidity is during incubation.

Being your on day one it's nothing to worry about. Your incubator could be right it's just the humidity is a bit high. Too much water added and the vents were not open.
I only use my incubators information and have great success.

I have an outdoor temp and humidity gauge that I just stuck in there so I'll see what it says. Removing one plug has started bringing the humidity down. I'm assuming once it's down to where I want it I should put the plugs back in? At least that's what the directions said to do, said to leave them both in until they start to hatch.
Throw the plugs in the trash.
