Incubator Temperature Issues!

Frist hatches are always hard .running blind is hard . my mistake was grabbing a incubator off the self without doing any research my first was about like yours only worse 5 out 42 we expect to hear more from you in our fall hey you got 5 let us know how they progress

I had to repair on of the yellow top 48 egg incubators (has the 4 digital diplays) and I found a spare port for a plug in 12v fan. Added a fan then added a piece of plastic between the top mesh and the temp sensor (that way it reads the heat under it not from the heater above). With a calibrated rtd the temps displayed is now 0.2-0.3 from the true temperature in the 5 spots I tested.
Humidity is still all over the place but the temp seems a lot better now. Ive always thought the cheapy yellow tops lacked the air flow required to deal with hot and cold spots and the heater blowing gently on the temp sensor didn't seem like a smart idea either. might be worth testing when its empty

I drilled 3 more holes in the base of mine. In the same place where there is one hole on one side, I added another on each of the other sides. I think it allows for better circulation and more even ventilation.
