Incubator Temperature Problems ! ! (Reptipro)

congratulations on the new family members!

with the problems you have had with temp i would give it about 23 days.

are the feet and everything ok with the chick?

Right now I have 3 chicks and one that is in the process . Two came out fine but were moving other eggs around and pecking at them and one of the ones that was accidently cracked because of me ended up getting a big hole where the air socket was . I noticed that the membrane was getting dry so I put a drop or two of water on it . As far as I can tell it's not poked through that membrane yet but I have been watching it since this morning and checking the membrane. The chick is still moving around and looks like it is breathing but I can't see where it's getting oxygen from cause I don't see his beak at all except under the membrane. The 3rd chick that hatched I don't really know what happened but something was attached to it's bottom and the inside of the egg , like a little string thing and he moved around and it came off and his bottom is bleeding . I quickly got him out and wrapped him in a paper towel and put him in a cup to keep him from moving around and put him in the brooder with the other two chicks. The other two chicks got moved when they pecked at the exposed chick in the membrane and egg and made a tiny hole that cause it to bleed . So far everyone is doing ok .Little chick in the cup is drying nicely and resting and the other two will get up every so often and stumble around and then go back to sleep and boy do they like to chirp !

when you see that little thread like thing connecting the chick to the shell, if it is dry; cut it close to the shell. most of the time the chick will be fine. occasionally you'll have one that has some of the yolk sack sticking out of the chick, just keep it warm and the sack damp and they will usually absorb it in a few hours. leave them in the incubator if that happens.

I knew you would get a hatch, but didn't want to get your hopes up just in case.

The bleeding has stopped now and he is up and about with the other two . The one that I am watching now has still not broke through the membrane . I checked the other eggs that were in there and they were ALL bad ! No wonder I was smelling something , not like an overpowering smell but a smell every time I would open up the incubator to turn them ! A few of them had air pockets but like 3 of them didn't OMG the smell. I put them in 4 plastic bags and put fabric sheets in them and then into yesterdays trash that is outside before it got took off to the dump ! So , out of the 12 original eggs I would have had 5 eggs hatch . Hopefully this little one that is still in the hatching process will make it and I will have 4 little babies. I wasn't expecting that much from this batch cause like I said I didn't know about the after 7 day rule and didn't really get to check them good while candling.

I think so , at least at this stage anyways . I ended up losing that one chick :( I went to check on it and it wasn't breathing or moving so I opening up the membranes and it was for sure dead , seems like something wasn't right with it can't quite put my finger on it but it didn't look right to me ! So as of right now I got 12 in that are going to be due the 21st of this month and then I am fixing to put 4 more in that will be due around the 24th . The three in the brooder are doing really well . They are nice and fluffy and I just put some chick feed in there and they are eating good as well as some shallow water. They were wanting to perch on their feed bowels so I put a small block in there for them to perch on .

I think if you keep moving them when you turn them, you'll have a little better hatch. but at least you know now that its possible. if you have any questions along the way, im here for you.

now for the bad news, this is a very addictive hobby. I hope you have plenty of land

LOL ! I have 23 acres ! I am actually wanting to hatch out some turkey's but before I buy the eggs to do that I want to make sure I know what I am doing and am getting good hatch rates out of my chicken eggs ! I think this next batch will be better though ! We shall see towards the end of the month :)
