I do remember that! Those were some insane spikes.I should add that I was able to achieve correct temps so I told the company that it was fine. Only it spiked about a week later. I did end up with a wonderful hatch rate but they all hatched early from the temp spikes. I'm sure @MGG remembers my frustration with the perfect temps to out of nowhere spiking pretty high.
Ok, disregard that theory then. It's a solid bottom, the only vent is on the top, & has a plug, but the vent doesn't help cool it off.
Weird! I'm guessing just a faulty unit then.I moved mine to my spare bedroom to avoid any drafts. It sat on a solid wood changing table top (basically like the top of a dresser). I've heard some to say they placed theirs inside the box the incubator was shipped in. No matter what I did (changed location, temp of location, settings, etc) it'd run perfectly then out of nowhere start up with temp spikes.
I bought it as new.@MysteryChicken did you buy the unit used? I would reach out to them. I can't imagine them not standing behind their incubator if purchased new. I need to contact them about mine. Every single time I'd contact them they'd email me right back and whenever I went to get any requested information, the unit would start behaving. I felt like an idiot. I had spikes up in the 102's, all while the incubator was set at 96 and read 96. I should have reached out to them before now, but I eventually moved them to my NR360. I was shocked that I had such a wonderful hatch rate but everyone had hatched by mid Day19 (first one hatched morning of Day 18). I had 2 with deformities. The crossbeak died around 2.5 months and the other has an underbeak but he's doing well. I should add that I believe they are EE/Polish crosses and I've read about many EE's hatching with crossbeak, so it could be the breed or it could be the incubator issues.
I left them with a message yesterday, just waiting for a reply. This is all so familiar. The higher the spike, the more I'd have to open it. I eventually had to move the eggs to a different incubator. I'd contact the company. I seriously doubt they'd leave you with a faulty machine.
