The breed has extended to Germany, but it certainly didn’t start there. It didn’t exactly start in the UK either. The fact remains that it is a historical text written on the breed. It doesn’t matter if any country or organization doesn’t agree with the standards represented in it; it’s a HISTORICAL text written on the development of the breed from the oldest organization of breeders which absolutely isn’t open to interpretation or opinion. The duck on the cover unquestionably was at some point even considered breed standard in Germany or wherever because at some point that’s how they looked. Seriously, check out the book; it’s fascinating.

Any book written on the development of the breed harkens back to the breed represented in the books written by the Runner Duck Association by default. Much like no Protestant church can claim no historical connection whatsoever to the Eastern Orthodox Church, Catholic Church, or Judaism; they predate the Protestant Church so the connection is inextricable.

If that is the case; can you please take your comment back that other country's and their breeding-associations are not 'international akwnoledged' and internationally involved' in the here and now?. Because we are. We litteraly are. We majorly are.
I have weekly contact with U.S.A., U.K. , South-African, Brazillian, French, German, Austrian, Romanian, Belgium, Portugal, Spanish, Peruvian, etc. etc. Indian runner duck breeder assocations due to my position. WE ALL work together and make breeding standards. Or communicate about diceases... in our free-time. We work together. To make these so called 'breeding-standards'. We are ALL internationally aknowledged because we made that internatinonal connections.. Your book is about U.S.A and U.K. standards. That's it. But there are more standards and more dedicated people from different country's that made and make that happen. By working together. Stating that we apparently are less serious = not a step towards that. I have good connections with good U.K. breeders; but when one of them on one day said 'well you don't know anything about them don't ya, since I do not acknowledge you' it kinda ends? Luckely they don't because they are as even as serious about the breed that I am. And many with me.

Maybe your daughter should do a presentation about 'how not to think that country's that don't speak your language are not less then you'.

You are reading a ton into this bordering upon irrational. Again; it’s a historical text and not open to interpretation. Much like I can’t have a personal interpretation/opinion that the world was round up until 80 BCE when a gigantic sea Tyrannosaurus stepped on the earth and demand that everyone recognize my version of history as true.

You clearly haven’t read the book and are assuming it is about English speaking country standards. It’s literally a historical narrative of the breed from first hand historical accounts thru breed development. It goes all the way back to archeological evidence of the breed. It automatically is about the development of the breed internationally because it is a HISTORICAL text.

The book is literally from the Indian Runner Duck Association in Welshpool. There are basically only 2 standards; American and British.
And Australian.

Of course Australia never-ever had any connection whatsoever to Britain. It totally developed spontaneously of its own accord. British standards and breeding have absolutely no historical basis in the historical development of Australian standards. Just like the development of potatoes in Ireland and the US has nothing to do with South America whatsoever.

If the book is about U.S.A. and U.K. standards and it's history it is no problem.
My problem began when you said they are the ONLY current standards. Which is false and offending. Current internationally, and thus not historically.

That and I must ask my ducks now what religion they are apperantly.

I know that our standards are based upon the British ones. Our standards are slightly different with some breeds as importing stock was made almost illegal for bio security reasons. Meaning that we had to develop our own from whatever birds we had available. An example of this is the Australian Call Duck, which was developed from dwarf sports identified in a Mallard flock in South Australia. Due to this Australian Call is somewhat larger than the Northern Hemisphere Call and is bred in a more limited range of colours. I know that our runners were most likely imported and thus we most likely go off the British standards.

Also, sorry that I have gone off topic. I wish your daughter well with her research on Runners, they are quite interesting Ducks and are sure to have interesting history. Also, what is a 4H presentation?
