Anyone interested in jumbo coturnix quail eggs? I can do 36+ hatching eggs for $10 picked up or $15 shipped. These will be no more than 3 days old. If I have any older than this ill give you as many as I can put in the box(I think I was able to fit around 55 eggs when I shipped to jchny). I just hatched some babies from the first eggs laid by these and just candled another dozen and looks like all 12 are ddeveloping.
If you want chicks, I can do that as well. $1 per chick, $10 for 12. I will just need a 3 weeks notice as these will be hatched to order.
I am going thru a similar problem, all the hens I have, and only 2-3 are laying. almost everyone I talk to is having the same problem with adult hens. I really think it was the cold spell we had threw them off.Hey gang, hope you all are well. Happy Friday to you!
I posted on the egg forum and not much success getting an answer so might as well try here.
Since I have been home, one week tonight, I have only received 4 eggs from my (8) laying hens and my (5) twenty-five week old pullets.
I have read that several of you are having production issues, but this seems ridiculous.
Any thoughts/suggestions???
No known diseases or mites, they have a nice high quality organic feed, plenty of fresh water, no signs of an egg eater, no signs of a predator.
They do free range, the coop/nesting material DOES need changed, they did receive sub par care while I was away (not clean water every day and a stray dog attack)
That is all I can think of. Just seems odd.
Quote: Good way to do it, I sometimes jump the gun and get the birds before the coop is builtAlmost any buck will be stubborn/mean/difficult eventually, some think they are in rut every day of the year! Wethered males are usually sweet like a doe. Sugar acts like a dog, and will lay on the ground right next to me and even put her head or a hoof on me. She loves neck and chin rubs, nose rubs. I like Nubian, Swiss Alpine or Oberhasli. (Mine are Oberhasli) LaMancha and Nigerian are also good choices, from what I've heard, but never owned them. I am getting my milking station set up, hopefully this weekend. Sophie is a month old now and eating some solid foods, so I can safely milk once a day. I have read the milk is better for you, lower fat, and easier to digest for lactose intolerant people. It tastes really good too! Sugar, my doe, is extremely friendly and tolerant so I am pretty sure she won't be a problem to milk. You can pasteurize yourself, or use it for mozzarella cheese, ice cream, etc.![]()
I dont think i would mix quail with turkey, but really depends on the the birds temerment. It would have to be very small gauge wire to keep them in. Mine sure can fly! One of my A&M popped out of the top of the cage, and flew a few hundred feet! Glad they tire fast, I finally caught the lil bugger. It would have to be very well enclosed. Quail do much better on wire tho. they do love to dustbathe a lot!I know this has been asked before, but quails and chickens can or cannot be mixed? I am thinking that quails can but turkey's can't...? Is that right?

Well, I got my hens in for the night and I have some pretty somber news. If anyone remembers, about a month ago I mentioned that it looked like one of my hens was internally laying. She was, and she went downhill very suddenly today. She seems to be dying now. Poor thing, there wasn't a thing I could do for her.![]()
Mine counts when he helps me put them to bed at night because he knows I will ask if they were all there.Mine has no idea what I have, doesn't really care, so we just get whatever we want. AND that is the problem we WANT to much.![]()
