I dont know either, but I really love the breed. Hoping someone can offer info? Hatchery birds are rarely "heritage" because they have normal traits such as broodiness bred out of them.
I did have 2 of my BAs go broody, and all of them but the roos are from Mt Healthy. Meyer has some healthy birds too, I got my BBW turkeys from them and they are very healthy birds.

Interesting, let us know how it goes!

    I wouldn't trust her.
I would probably add her to the processing list, mean birds are not worth having. what a shame. Hope the baby is ok.

Yes I agree about the fencing. That backyard should be perfect for the girls. About the raised garden, yes I totally agree about making it chicken proof. My chickens have been eating my tomatoes and water melons.

I'm no expert, but I'd think the light would help the owl too. I've seen one great horned owl around my place, but I don't worry since the coop is like Fort Knox. No poultry netting, only hardware cloth and 2x4 welded wire everywhere. Doubled up in a lot of places also, no losses and no attempts at digging anywhere yet, 5 months later.

I do have a solar powered motion light on for the run area, love that!
