INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@pbirdhaven - awesome - I will look for you!

@Mother2Hens - I want to focus on long-tail breeds. The Cemani are a wonderfully gentle breed - at least that has been my experience with them. I will be keeping a couple of double dosed hens and three girls with pea combs that I got out of Cash for line breeding purposes. I forgot to mention that I am also keeping Cash, a recessive gene jackpot that I got out of a Cemani pair but where his type is concerned, he is Sumatra. That's what happens sometimes when you work with a land race breed. I want to keep his look alive:

@ellyMayrans - the gray one is a Wyandotte mix that one of my hens hatched out.

Darn, I so all my Marans are male. I can't get a Marans pulley to save my life!! I may have to get more eggs from you.

I AM SO EXCITED!! My cat, Tiger, is back after disappearing for a week and a half!! He adopted us after showing up on our deck eight years ago when he was around six months old. He followed our old grouchy (now deceased) outdoorsy Tom cat around, and Tom acted like his mentor. Tiger has always preferred to be outside although he’s been welcome inside, too. I’ve been going outside with a flashlight every night and calling and calling because that was part of his late night routine to come inside and eat. I couldn’t believe it tonight when my flashlight caught his glowing eyes running toward me!! I had wished for that scene so many times the past ten days that I thought I was dreaming for a minute! I had put Lost Cat signs up and also posted on our neighborhood social media, but hadn’t heard a word. I held out hope that someone was feeding him and that he was out there somewhere since he’s an outdoor survivor type.

This is what Cash looks like when the sun shines directly on him (he was enjoying the warmth and relaxing while I was holding him - thus the closed eyes!):

Absolutely beautiful!

Just wanted to say thanks again for the support yesterday. I was having a really bad day... Feeling a bit more chipper today, though. :) I think with how things have been going that my 'therapist' is going to start insisting on an hourly wage, though. Elda does take her job so seriously.

Anyway, as of last night's checkup, the fluid in Marama's abdomen is down (it has been coming and going, though...). I definitely feel a lump now, but she's getting a lot of her sass back, so maybe she has a little more time left than I had thought yesterday. :fl Anyway...
pipd ~ Yes, Jersey always looked like she was looking back at you! She was such a great flock leader—laid back, but firm. She had such a sweet voice, and we had nice conversations. :p I looked for this post below for an hour today, and I just found it while looking for something else! Jersey was different than your girl because she never laid a normal egg, and I didn't really know her age for sure. I traded one of my RIR roos (Nene's brothers) for her. They guy was from CL, but it turned out it lived fairly close to me. (Nene had congestive heart failure and was full of fluid and waddled. When she could no longer fly up to her special perching spot at the top of the coop, I took her to the vet and ended up having her put to sleep). This photo was taken because Jersey often faked laying eggs! We joked that she faked so that the other hens wouldn't think she was over the hill. The only eggs she laid were these GROSS ALERT ones on the info page that I had made. If you're brave, you can click to make it larger. Hopefully your Fayoumi will improve. :hugs
Aw, I do remember you talking about that, too! I've only ever found one small lash egg (thank goodness, because lash eggs seriously gross me out), but my Frou-Frou did have a habit of 'faking' egg laying sometimes, too. I think she was jealous because all her friends laid eggs almost every day and she only laid, like, 120 teeny-tiny eggs in her 3 years of life. :rolleyes: Thanks for the information. :)
the Lebanon show? He's a striking fellow.....m8ghty tempting to bring some mad (dash) money with me.........
Haha, yeah, I'm hoping to go and the temptation to get a quarantine pen set up beforehand is really powerful... I don't want to bring anything home, but... What if I need to? :p

Aw, glad he came home! :weee He's such a handsome guy!
I need some ideals... I have a 1 yr old that I got the beginning of the year, ( EE ) and I have been trying to put her in the EE pen of course ever since she came out of ISO. ( 8 mths ago ) and she just isn't being accepted by anyone, she sleeps by herself and that just aint going to work for winter. Anyone have anyway special to get her accepted, I have even tried putting just 1 other hen with her and only them 2 trying to get them to buddy up but it never works. The roo's all love her, the hens hate her. I don't want to rehome her she is people friendly and sings to me all the time. And she gives me an egg EVERY day since she started laying. Even through her molt a few weeks ago she still gave me an egg a day. Any ideals would be great. Thanks in advance.
Are the other hens picking on her, or is she just a loner type? I have a hen that tries to perch off on her own every night, and all I do is move her to the perches with the other hens every night. But, she doesn't get pushed around, so I know she'll stay where I put her. Edited for spelling

Are any of my peeps going to the Lebanon show? I have never been to this show and was just wondering what kind of birds they usually have for sale? Or if any of my buddies on here are going if I could get some hatching eggs? Do they sell hatching eggs at the show?? I'm very interested in different colored silkies ( buff, splash, maybe partirgde) I am also looking for tobult polish or bantam polish any colors or any color ( except BBS) large fowel cochin.
