INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Gotta always try to remember though sometimes its not so easy to read someones attitude. If so though, stinks that anyone would bother responding if they weren't planning to be anything but helpful! O hey! Did I mention how I am just crazy over my Peeps! !

So funny story. And I will be shocked if its a first. DH says to me, after I nonchalantly mention im going to be taking a roadtrip to pick up a Few more chickens this weekend, "It's like crack! You're going to have to stop! " Then we just laughed! Too funny! !!

good and bad news good news is we might be keeping our house but it wont be our it will be someone elses but well be living in it
bad news is we might have to get rid of my dogs and my cat :/ and maybe the chickens :/

That's sad, hopefully it won't work out that way. Keep your chin up.

Just love being a "Hoosier"!! And yes even still after a game like tonight! Sigh ...

Yes, there's nothing like Indiana Basketball! My husband and I are IU grads, and our youngest is a freshman. Bloomington is the best. We never thought we'd end up back in Evansville. Btw, the Rural King stores here have chicks, but beware because last year we got 6 RIR pullets, and 5 were cockerels! It all turned out well through trading because we have five different hen breeds. I am jealous of everyone talking about new chicks because we don't have space for more. Mine are very spoiled pets, so hopefully they will be around a long time.

The members list and links page helps us all. You may have a certain breed to sell someone is looking for, and this isn't just about chickens! Some of us have a variety of critters

. Springs almost here and everyone will be going full speed looking for babies to grow their flock or herd.

Thanks, I don't really care what breed they are but to have the people from the other thread be nasty about it was uncalled for. How do us newbies learn If we don't ask questions? I'm glad my chicks aren't ameraucanas if the people I thought would help me learn about them are going to be so rude. I'm so glad the people in the Indiana thread are so nice and willing to help me and answer questions as I learn about my new breed.
Don't ever hesitate to ask any question here, I want everyone to know how much we appreciate everyone's input, ideas and questions. I learn so much every day!

How can you tell the differences in them when they are chicks? Just how they hold their fluffy butts?

Crafty, the cinder blocks is what i was thinking too. that will give you a lot of clearance but DFBacon had some excellent ideas too. Hehe!! Love the fluffy butts

I was very confused by this when I got layers last year for the first time, had a similar situation talking to a breeder, no less

and just passed them up and THAT breeder, altogether. Sad thing was I felt like i didn't want to have them and its not the breed's fault. I have 1 EE and she is just a beauty. Golden with blue lacing on her tail and neck. She is totally full of energy and is so fiesty! Her name is Bunny, she rarely walks, just hops then runs like a rabbit! I plan on blue or black ameraucanas in my flock this year, they are just beautiful birds too. If you cross them with BCM they give you olive green eggs aka olive eggers!!!! Love colorful egg baskets

The new door is installed, but will probably remake it sometime once I turn the bator off. It seems to be holding temp just as well. I used 2 sheets of 1/4 plexiglass and have one on the inside and the other on the outside. Then wrapped it in molding. The screws really tore up the wood and had major blow outs lol. Guess that's what I get for not predrilling and using correct screw length. Overall though I'm happy to be able to see in without opening the door all the time.

Oh my, that's just awesome! You two should make an article together on the homemade incubator articles. Its very attractive, and i love the window, HUGE! I am going to follow what you both have done, but adjust the cabinet measurements to fit the turners. For what the cabinets cost, wow!

this is just great and sure gives you hatching room!
