Interesting observation about my roo

My roo is not getting any mating done right now. All the hens, save two, are molting. The roo is molting. The two girls that are not molting are wearing saddles and the roo is scared of their saddles.

He's always been a excellent roo. Very good to his girls. I can offer him a big bowl of treats and he won't eat any of them. He gives them all to the girls instead.
Now he's molting and he's not sharing at all! He ate a whole slice of bread by himself. One hen tried to take a piece out of his beak and he turned away from her.
Not mating? Not sharing!

Instinct is telling him to get back in shape. A moulting bird is vulnerable to predaters...

Once he's back in ship-shape condition - I bet he goes back to being the same ole Roo

If we make it to Atwoods this weekend, I AM going to switch everybody over to higher protein feed.
