International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I use the round ones. I can fill put the lid on and flip with the one arm. I have not tried the other one. It would work well for me. Since I only have one usable arm. Please let me know if you end up liking it.
I'm trying to find a waterer that their waddles don't swim in while they drink. Im new to chickens and never got those nipple things. So far been through 2 winters and both cost my cockerels their waddles (and some comb points)

Lovely ladies!!! And the boy in last pic is gorgeous

ETA- see his white feathers on his feet, my boy has same. Hoping that will molt out.
Thank you, yes the white is a recent development. He was clean of white when he was younger so im not to sure what happened could be damage, none of the others have any white and where and good dark underfluff. He Is also a little overcolored but that's fine, i got a couple hens that are perfect for him. But overall im ready to start pairing my breeders, time is draging by.

My plan is to put a heat light in the main house this winter and see if that helps keep them from getting frostbite. I have a heated base for the metal waterers. Winter is always hard on the large combs when it gets real cold.

I was told by two different Main Marans breeders not to be too worried about an occasional white foot feather. Body type is so much more important. I was told just pull it.

We would have done that but my man did some web searching and came back with heat=humidity=frostbite. So we haven't. There are usually 2 or 3 days we have to plug up the coop but other than that we leave the vents wide open. New England is humid cold. We don't worry much till it gets below 0. That's when the damage hits.

These are our hatchery babies. We have 7 but 3 of them chose to not be photographed :lau
