International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

This is my first winter with BCM chickens. Mine are little peddler lines.

Even though egg production has dropped significantly among all my chickens (many breeds), I can't help but notice that my BCM have stopped laying all together. It's been at least 2 weeks since I've seen a chocolate egg. I have 3 BCM chickens.

I do have at least 1 chicken that's an egg eater, but usually I know when that has happened since the nest is full of yolk and egg shell. This hasn't happened in a while because I've been collecting more often that usual to prevent egg-eating (which usually happens when eggs remain in the nest for a while).

Can anyone with little peddler lines tell me how their chickens are doing in terms of laying? Or anyone with different lines care to comment on BCM laying prowess in general?

Thanks!
Richard, If I remember correctly we got our birds from Brian Parks. My hens have not layed when they started molting in AUG.. I have pullets from these hens that are laying now at 28 weeks. TOM

Was finals weeks(s) for me. How's this for news.

My blue copper roo is too nice! The pullets are picking his feathers and he lets them. Like stretches his neck out for them. So I swapped Roos and put the young fired up cockerel in there. Like to see those girls pick him.

Some pictures of my Marans hanging in the woods. They won't let me get close enough to get good pictures though. Isn't it funny how a flock of assorted breeds will tend to sort themselves? The Marans are always together, the orpingtons keep to themselves, the brahma posse all runs together, and the silkies are inseperable lol

Ugh these guys are depressing. Out off 18 chicks, we got 5 hens and 10 Roos. These are the only two that have no leakage into the chest ;(
How do they look? Let me know what other angles you want to see, and I’ll get them for you! Please, critique away!
Hatched Early June.

roo 1 has a better comb and hackle marking but not enough photos of him to comment on him well .
roo 2 is almost perfect except his comb .love his body type short ,long and thick .
his hackle seem to have some gold .is that from the photo /sun or he actually has golden feathers on the lower part of his hackle?
