That was pretty much what I was thinking. Sounds like a great plan if all goes accordingly. Thanks for all the great advice.

If you follow my advice ,you ll have the best BC marans in the USA 100% .
you have a solid foundation birds .great qualities ,just need to be bred in one or two lines ,that all .you have all the time you need .one step at the time .bred out one faut and fix one good trait each generation . .
Do no buy any more bird .regardless what line they come from .

I definitely wont be buying any more birds. I'm closing my flock of Marans and Legbars to work with what I have. I have all the birds I need to keep the bloodlines fresh for quite a long time without bringing in new blood.

he is full of vigour . love his long ,flat and tilted back .
love the strength of this head and neck .
love the solidity of his legs
love the depth of his chest
love the shape and form of his tail .NOT the Angle
love his type of copper . need more of it .

Queen s boy have a gorgeous tail ,shape and form . the Angle is not her fault .it is they sire for sure .it is a reason you need to breed them back to her to restore the Angle and reinforce it . you have a problem and the solution in one package . use it for your advantage .

his tail is @ 90 Degree not higher .that what I thought . Squirrel Tail Angle is higher than 90 degrees .120 and more . plus will have long feathers .

Regardless about his tail .I explain to you how he ll be good to back cross him to his Dam Queen .and what type of cockerel you ll be looking for in the future the Ze Ze cockerel I described before .
I do not see any Squirrel tail progeny coming out of Queen s if she was properly line bred .she has stunning tail .impossible .

I like that .it is a correct way .
line breed your flock and fix what wrong as you go .

keep the shape and the form of the tail .just lower the angle .

I do see a lot marans with a correct tail angle but horrible tails . long .open .Fan , curly

I'm glad you like him. He has some feathering and coloring up to do so I'm still watching him. I am keeping both of the dark copper brothers so we don't have to pick a favorite right now. I am culling the 3rd and 4th cockerels, both with halos like their father. One has a short back and a definite squirrel tail and the other is a runt.

I tell you guys some thing we all know .
we all know and we have seen or heard about some hens goes dominant and start to crow ,if there is no rooster around . why ,because her sex chromosome has one Z [ male chromosome ] and one w [ female chromosome ]
But we never seen or heard about any rooster goes broody . why ,because both of his sex chromosome are Z .male chromosome .

so the hen has more power to fix the male and the female line .both those line has to start with a good female not a good male like every think .

when we talk chooks ,the Mama Hen roles . she is a Queen . there is no King in the chooks world , just the rooster thin they are ,that all .

The Rooster crow BUT the hen is the one who lay eggs . he can crow as much as he can .

A beautiful and correct topline with nice tails would be a glorious thing to see in my 2019 grow outs. Hoping for a good year.

good move .will make it easier in the future by having them both .
