International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

@kfelton0002
here a method to breed Queen as a foundation pullets line hen .
Step #1 =breed her to both cockerels DA and DH keep only pullets .
Breed Malika s to her son DH and DA try to produce son s , she is proven good @ that .
select the best one 2 or 3 free from any white and colourful .

Next step # 2 = mate Queen pullets to Malika s son s . this method of line breeding cover more area than a classical mother son /father daughters. prodce both pullets/cockerels.

Third step in 2 years time = Malika will become a head of the clan she will replace her mother Queen s .and will be bred to cockerels come out of Step 2. her Grand son s .

Sounds like a great plan! Thank you! Looking forward to seeing what the birds produce next year. I will be done with school and will have more time with the birds. That is what I am most excited about. Lol

Yes my mind it at ease too. They're only chickens and this is supposed to be fun. That's our new mantra. Lol. We're fine, everything is fine. :D

yes we all fine .we have chooks to work with .
remember 2 years ago I lost all of my chooks ,that was terrible . I had nothing when I come back from Europe . now I have a lot marans . I don t care if they have faults or no .what I care about I have them ,I can see them . I can work with them , I can improve they type ,etc................... no having them I can not do that .
Hard Culling without a breeding to much it will empty any bodies ward .so becarefull and be wise .

Can we have that in writing! JK! lol
We really did miss you when you where gone. We where still here just a little more unsure. Well me for one was lost with the yellow legs I produced from the old line. So I culled them. Right or wrong. Glad I have what I have now. I never did hear your thoughts on producing yellow legs. There where several offspring from Julie's birds that ended up having yellow legs.

I am excited for next year. Long winters give me chick fever. Seeing all your gorgeous chicks makes me want to hatch but I am waiting for them to get older. If they where old enough i would be hatching already.

yellow leg is not a big problem . easy to breed out . you breed it out a same way as breeding out dark eyes ,you need one parent free from the fault .
yellow leg to be worthy of working with has to be very special .
my old Splash Sari line had a yellow legs and the darkest eggs I ever seen in my farm 8 for a long period .so I bred from her .but did not had a chance to finish my work .

Good to know. I was told to cull them by several people so I did. I am still very happy with the ones I have now so worked out for good.
