International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Would the female I posted be an example of that?
On that, I'm less sure of because the black silver don't show any lacing or color other than black on them, I'm not sure of other colors, I've got black silver and blue silver, silver based whites and silver based blue splash. I do fight with some autosomal red in my flock hidden by females, but I am winning the battle and I see less every year. On blue hens occasionally I can see on carriers a slight salmon or reddish hue to the breast, and on whites sometimes I see a bit of yellow on wings and saddles for carriers.

This is his daughter who came with him. She didn't like the phone. Usually she is not shy. I guess that explains why she looks so much like a mossy birchen.

yes ,she is a cross between salmon and birchen . she is F2 .more of a silver salmon phenotype but not pure yet .

the Autossomal red genes in a salmon variety are very complex . because we want to the males { cockerels} to be pure silver ,but the pullets we want them silver with a salmon chest { chest colour are regulated by Autossomal genes } So the Silver Salmon cockerels do carry the Autossomal red .but they do not express it . the hens do
it is a reverse of Black copper Black copper genes .with BC we want a cockerels to show the Autossomal red .{ shoulder colour and chest dots } but we don t want the hens to show any of the Autossomal red .} BC hen does carry the Autossomal red but not expressed .

autossomal Red is not a single gene .it is color genes not regulated by Sex linked .

I lost a Birchen hen tonight. I had to find out why. She had a impacted crop. It was full of straw. While I was at it I checked for worms and she was worm free. I don't know why she would eat straw. Anyone else have this problem? I don't know what else to use for nesting material. This was chopped straw that I bought at the feed store. Maybe a bail of straw would be better.

It sounds like fun. I'm Wondering if it's something I could do it.
How many chicks would I have to hatch every year? 10? 20? 100?
What would I be looking for at hatch so I wouldn't have to grow them all out.
How do I get rid of the autosomal red? Just by selecting?
What if my females don't have a salmon breast?
Does that make them an automatic cull?
Do you have some pictures of correct ones that you could share?

if you want to work with father and daughter than you have to hatch a lot 50 chicks , because they will throw a lot of phenotype .{ different looking progeny } you will only pick a chicks hatched a pure salmon chatchdown pattern chipmunk pattern .the rest will be a cull .
if the pullets do not show a salmon breast than they are a cull .

here a photo of my silver salmon F2 pullet @4 months old . her back got darker as she matured
