Remember Mud, one of my cockerels in the past with recurrent impacted crop? He ate mud and all kinds of inedible things, and never was able to thrive. Chickens can be fairly stupid and eat things that they shouldn't. That is the only explanation I can offer. I am very sorry for your loss.

Thank you! At least it's not one of my BCM or BLCM that I plan on breeding next year. I am not planning on hatching any Birchen next year. I probably will eventually cull all Birchen in the future. If I lose my only Birchen rooster. It will make my decision easy.

hard to tell because we don t know they parent stock .from wich varieties crosses they come out .
can you ask the person you got them from if possible ?

I got them from a sixteen year old who says the people he bought them from are not replying. He didn't give me their name or number. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

She looks good! For your first Marans, it looks like you got a good start. I also have a pullet named Gypsy. Congratulations on your new birds!

she is a big hen ,good body type .she has a lot of good quality .
only problem is her comb is too big and her tail is too long .

he is her sire ,so it is the first back crossing ,you will end up with few different type ,we see how they look and we take it from there ,
